Version 2 Stethoscope
I have had many questions about my stethoscope, where it came from, how it works, and others. My attempt to answer all these questions is below. My stethoscope is a modified Philips Electronic Stethoscope that works through a couple of other parts to transmit the sound to my hearing aid. How it works:
First, we took a Philips Electronic Stethoscope (either model M4530A or M4534A which are the 28" and 40" versions respectively)

We modified the stethoscope. (Click on the picture below for a close-up.)

The stethoscope plugs into my FM receiver, which also has a TMX neck loop plugged into it. (Click on the picture below for a close-up.)

The sound from the stethoscope travels through the FM receiver, into the TMX neck loop (which is worn around my neck), and is then picked up by the TMX telepin, which is attached to a boot that is plugged into my bone conduction hearing aid.

My boyfriend and my father came up with the stethoscope modifications to make it work for me. For anyone who is interested, my boyfriend, Greg, is willing to modify the same model stethoscope. The current cost of the stethoscope is $199 purchased through Philips. For an additional $75 plus cost of shipping, Greg will modify the stethoscope to look and work just like mine. He can use either a male or female connector, depending on what you will be plugging the stethoscope in to. If you have a BAHA, you can purchase the audio adapter for the BAHA from Entific and the modified stethoscope with the female connector will plug directly into the audio adapter. Please note that using the stethoscope with a female connector and plugging a pair of headphones into the connector does NOT work. Note: this is just for the modified stethoscope, not any of the other parts (i.e. this does NOT include the FM receiver, TMX neck loop, TMX telepin, boot, or hearing aid). For more information about the stethoscope or if you are interested in having one modified for you, please email Greg at greg@treachercollins.org.
Version 1 Stethoscope: My oldest stethoscope used to be posted on this page as well. I was not very happy with it for various reasons, but if you want to see it and how it works, click here.
